Morocco's Ambitious Volunteer Training Program for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations
Morocco is gearing up for a monumental task: hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). To ensure a seamless and memorable event, the country has embarked on an ambitious volunteer training program. This initiative involves a dedicated force of 15,000 volunteers, including over 1,000 African students residing in the kingdom. The training, held in Rabat from November 7 to 10, focused on crucial areas like public reception, guidance, and assistance, as well as communication and teamwork.
The goal is to create a professional and welcoming atmosphere for all participants. Chaimae Kiani, an official from the Office for Vocational Training and Job Promotion (OFPPT), emphasized the program's purpose: preparing volunteers to showcase Moroccan hospitality and values. Kiani believes that volunteering is a powerful tool to enhance the kingdom's sports visibility and create unforgettable experiences for both visitors and locals.
The training sessions, conducted across 70 OFPPT centers nationwide, are led by over 150 instructors. These workshops cover essential modules, including communication, crisis response, and teamwork. Volunteers will be strategically placed in various locations, such as airports, hotels, train stations, and stadiums, to ensure a well-organized and efficient event.
This volunteer program is part of Morocco's broader strategy to leverage major sporting events for multiple benefits. The country aims to promote youth participation, foster African solidarity, and enhance its national image in the lead-up to co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup. With such a comprehensive approach, Morocco is setting the stage for a successful and impactful AFCON.
